Help

The preferred communication channel that will be used to assist eRN users is the eRN chat site. Topics discussed there will inform us of required clarification, which will be made public on the eRN Documentation page.

The #general stream can be used to post any generic questions (viewable by everyone), which may become part of the #help stream to assist others.

If you have any queries, please see the topics under the #help stream to see if someone else posted a similar question. Topics such as #help > physics may explain more domain-specific questions. You can subscribe or unsubscribe to the streams or topics (mute/unmute) to be notified when new discussions arise. The administrators manage topics in the #help stream; thus, notifications will be less than active streams such as #software.

A stream for software exists with topics regarding specific scientific software available on the HPC, etc. To receive notifications of software upgrades, etc., please subscribe to the #software stream. You can also mute particular topics. Registering to the #software stream will be helpful, as you will be notified when new software is added to the stream and can simply mute topics of the software if you don't use it. For instance, you can mute notifications for Gaussian if you are not using it. All users can post to the #software stream, which allows users to assist each other. As systems engineers, we are unfamiliar with the inner workings of scientific software and ask you to support each other in that regard.
